COOKIE POLICY
Last Updated: 12 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how DEATH DOULA LTD, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales (Company Number 17171845), with its registered office at 54 Mead Way, High Wycombe, England, HP11 1RH ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies (including HTML5 Local Storage and Session Storage) when you visit our website or use our platform (the "Platform").
This Policy is provided in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?
- Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and maintain state (such as a login session) across requests.
- Local Storage and Session Storage are browser technologies that store data directly in your browser. Local Storage persists until cleared; Session Storage is deleted when the browser tab is closed.
In this Policy we refer to all of these technologies collectively as "cookies". The rules described here apply to all technologies that store or access information on your device.
2. CATEGORIES OF COOKIES WE USE
A. Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the Platform to function: signing in, maintaining a secure session, and completing payments. They are set without consent because the services you request cannot be provided without them.
- refresh_token (HttpOnly cookie) — maintains your authenticated session and enables secure session rotation; lifetime up to 30 days.
- access_token (cookie / local storage) — identifies your authenticated session for API requests; lifetime up to 30 days.
- doula_session_id (local storage) — a randomly generated identifier used for session stability and security purposes.
- Payment provider cookies — when you proceed to a hosted checkout page operated by Stripe or NOWPayments, those providers set their own cookies on their domains for transaction security and fraud prevention.
B. Functional and preference cookies. These remember choices you make:
- site_lang (cookie) and site-locale (local storage) — remember your language preference for up to 12 months.
- cookie_consent_v1 (local storage) — stores your cookie preference choice for up to 12 months or until you change or clear it.
- __post_login_nav (session storage) — temporarily stores the page you should return to after signing in; deleted when the tab is closed.
C. Analytics cookies (optional, consent-based). We use Google Analytics only if you consent to analytics cookies via the consent banner. Analytics data is used in aggregated form to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it. If you decline or do not respond to the banner, analytics scripts are not loaded.

4. HOW YOU CAN CONTROL COOKIES
4.1. When you first visit the Platform, a consent banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time via the "Manage Cookie Preferences" option on the Platform or by clearing your browser's site data, after which the banner will be shown again.
4.2. You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent core functions such as signing in and completing payments.
4.3. Information about managing cookies in common browsers is available at www.aboutcookies.org.
5. CHANGES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable regulation. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
